Shaye Martorino brings a decade of experience as a Registered Practical Nurse. Her professional background in direct service provision includes acute care, community, mental health, and substance care nurse. With the onset of the pandemic, Shaye transitioned to Inner City Health Associates (ICHA), where she initially served as a staff nurse and charge nurse, providing care grounded in health equity that is trauma-informed, low barrier, anti-oppressive, and harm reduction-focused for people experiencing homelessness impacted by COVID-19.
Since February 2021, Shaye assumed the role of Senior Nurse Manager at ICHA. In this capacity, she holds responsibility for the direct operational and clinical oversight of nursing services across multiple programs within ICHA. Her leadership approach is guided by the principle: “Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them. Love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. But with the best leaders, when the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say ‘We have done this ourselves.'” – Lao Tzu
