Rowena Taheny has been working in the health sector with a focus on substance use care for over 10 years. She has extensive experience connecting clients and supports within Toronto’s local communities. She was one of the original innovators at TrueNorth Medical Centres — one of the largest networks of community addiction clinics in Ontario. In that work she was instrumental in the development of virtual care resources, which she hopes to carry into her work at ICHA. With a background in social work, Rowena has always wanted to optimize support for vulnerable populations and reduce barriers attached to essential services. Working within the healthcare field, she has been able to break down stigma in the communities she serves by developing low-barrier access to services for underserved populations. Rowena is looking forward to using her knowledge, experience and partner rapport to help grow and develop Mental Health and Substance Use Care programs at ICHA.
