ICHA Job Opportunities for Family Physicians
 
The ICHA Primary Care and Medical Specialties Program is currently recruiting Family Physicians to provide primary care services at the following sites. Comfort In Hotel Shelter. Address: 445 Rexdale Blvd., Etobicoke

Hotel adult only shelter operated by Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre supporting people experiencing homelessness in Toronto’s North-West End. ICHA provides a range of services on-site: primary care, regional mobile nursing, and psychiatry in addition virtual substance use care.

Required Hours: 4-8 Hours / Week (0.1-0.2 FTE), preferably on a Wednesday.

Start Date: January / February 2026. Permanent position.

 

Four Points Hotel Shelter. Address: 2180 Islington Ave, Etobicoke

Hotel adult only shelter operated by the City of Toronto supporting people experiencing homelessness. ICHA provides a range of health services on-site: primary care, regional mobile nursing, and psychiatry.

Required Hours: 4-8 Hours / Week (0.1-0.2 FTE), preferably on a Thursday.

Start Date: January / February 2026. Permanent position.

Clinics: Bi-weekly half day clinic – Available January 2026 – In-Person

ICHA Services On-Site: Primary Care

Description: New Hope North York at 66 Norfinch Drive provides accommodations and wrap-around supports to adult men experiencing homelessness, with 93 beds.

 

The Edward – Fred Victor – 185 Yorkland Blvd, Toronto, ON, M2J 4R2

Clinics: Bi-weekly half day clinic – Available January 2026 – Currently Virtual

ICHA Services On-Site: Primary Care – RMN (Nursing)

Description: Edward Hotel has specialized supports for homeless women, men, and couples who face barriers due to mental health issues, substance use, social isolation, immigration status, unemployment/underemployment challenges, and history with the criminal justice system. The clients come from racially, culturally, and ethnically diverse backgrounds.

 

New Hope Leslieville – 29 Leslie St, Toronto, ON

ICHA Services On-Site: Primary Care

Description: The 60-bed facility provides shelter, meals, supportive counselling, and other support services for men experiencing homelessness.

 

SHARC – 129 Peter St, Toronto, ON,

Clinics: Bi-weekly half day clinic – Available January 2026 – In-Person

ICHA Services On-Site: Primary Care

Description: Streets to Homes (S2H) and partners provide street outreach and housing-related follow-up supports to assist people who are experiencing homelessness and sleeping outdoors in finding and keeping housing. This includes outreach to individuals living in encampments. The ICHA clinic at SHARC/129 Peter St. is in a large well-lit office immediately adjacent to the office of the counselor who serves as the dedicated health liaison; the psychiatrist will be located onsite and will not be doing street outreach. A security officer is stationed just outside or in their cars. 129 Peter St. serves some of the city’s most vulnerable homeless, including some who are barred from previous shelters and come to 129 Peter for showers/laundry/food. Streets to Homes counselors accompany some patients to appointments.

 

Scott Mission – 346 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON

Clinics: Bi-weekly Half Day Clinic – Available January 2026 – In-Person

ICHA Services On-Site: Primary Care – Scott Mission Nursing On-Site

Description: Provides both drop-in and shelter for men experiencing homelessness. The ICHA clinic is a clean, well-lit office in the new shelter building that opened in 2022 (346 Spadina Ave. near Kensington Market). Scott Mission staffs ICHA clinics with both a dedicated health liaison and an experienced nurse-health care coordinator. In addition to doing psychiatric consults requested by the ICHA primary care physician, the ICHA psychiatrist may follow patients, including those who’ve moved out of the shelter and are living in the community. Scott Mission provides wrap-around services: case managers for clients who require assistance, and mental health and addiction counselors who offer individual and group therapy. Scott Mission also has a staff on the top floor available to clinicians for breaks or lunch.
