Dr. Miriam Shuchman is a psychiatrist and an award-winning physician-journalist. As a member of the clinical team at Inner City Health Associates, she sees patients at several Toronto homeless shelters, and as Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, she teaches residents and has led research ethics boards at UfT affiliate hospitals. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, Miriam trained in psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital and did a fellowship in clinical ethics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Her feature writing on issues in biomedical science and bioethics has appeared in outlets such as Maisonneuve and Wired and in the news sections of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Lancet, and New England Journal of Medicine.
