Mental Health

Overview

ICHA’s Mental Health Psychiatry Program provides accessible, patient-centered psychiatric care to people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in shelters, respite centers, drop-in sites, and through street outreach. ICHA clinicians work closely with community-based care teams through an interdisciplinary outreach model to deliver timely and responsive mental health services.

Care is offered both in person and virtually by over 50 psychiatrists at more than 40 sites. They provide medication management, treatment planning, psychotherapy, follow-up care, and help with applications such as ODSP. The program serves a variety of populations, including youth, women, Indigenous communities, individuals with substance use needs, older clients, and refugees.

Referral pathways are flexible and differ by site.  The program also offers a Psychiatry On-Call clinician-to-clinician consultation service for collaborative support on complex and urgent cases. Specialized interdisciplinary sub-programs, offering psychiatric care, primary care, and nursing care, including our LOFT partnership programs: CATCH, MDOT, MATCH, and HFRESH.
